Memorial Day

Olivia and her grandma enjoyed some ice cream at Columbus Belmont Park over the weekend.

Morgan Marie

So, if you haven't heard we have a new addition to the family. Morgan was born May 8, 2011 at 8:36 p.m, a wonderful Mother's Day present. She was 8 lb. 15 oz. and 21 inches long. Such a blessing to our family. I say that tongue in cheek because she is presently screaming at the top of her lungs. But she really is a good baby. I think she just doesn't like caffeine ;-)

Today was her 1 month checkup. She has grown a whole inch and is 10 lb. 10 oz. Here are some updated pics.

Don't you just love her big feet?

Flashbacks

And why am I posting pics of a bathroom? Well, I am getting nostalgic and thinking about my last pregnancy. When I was about 8 months along with Olivia, I had a traumatic experience. An experience that some may not know about because I don't like to talk about it. I was locked in this eensy weensy bathroom at my office for 7 hours! Until finally, my knight decided to stop trying to find me via phone and went out looking for me. It was a small space, it was dark(because I was worried that I wouldn't hear the doorbell or someone with the fan going), and it was hot(August and I'd already turned the temp up before we left for the day). So what do you do in a dark hot bathroom for seven hours? I'd like to say I slept but there was no room to get comfortable. I tried to turn into Macgyver and break my way out. I tried to knock the hinges off with a hairbrush. I tried to knock my way out the door and walls with the toilet tank cover (I admit halfheartedly because I was worried it would bounce off the walls and hit my stomach). I screamed for help after I stopped feeling silly about it. And I cursed my husband every time my cell rang because I knew he wasn't close to finding me if he was still trying my cell.

And 7 hours later, he showed up. I remember how his voice shook when he called my name through the office. What a sweet sound to me! I realize now that I wouldn't trade with him for nothing. I knew where I was and I knew I would be found at least at 8 the next morning. I had a bathroom and running water. So he unscrewed the doorknob and we left hand in hand to end the day that I thought would never end.

Needless to say, by the time I got to work the next day, there was a new doorknob on the door and we've never had a problem with it since.

And it begins. . . what can we get our kids to believe

Do you remember watching this movie? The part I always remembered was where Whoopi convinced the little girl Tina that she could change the red traffic lights to green by blowing on them. I have convinced Olivia of the same thing. Whenever we get to a red one, she tells me I have to blow. When it works, she says, " I did it!" Hey, it keeps her occupied.

Whoops!

So, I called to Joe Ben on Sunday and Olivia, being the copycat she is, repeated. So now we have to constantly remind her his name is Daddy, not Joe Ben! I really try not to laugh when she says it!
